Important news on The Australian Journal of Irish Studies
 

The Centre for Irish Studies is a collaborative project involving Murdoch University and staff members of other Western Australian tertiary institutions.
 

The Centre aims to develop an understanding of:
 
  The 'Scattering' of the Irish people.
  The Irish influence on Australian society.
  Historical and contemporary Ireland.


The Centre co-ordinates teaching programs, and arranges seminars, conferences and lectures for academic staff and students.

The Centre is based at Murdoch University which appoints the Director and provides administrative support.

The Australian-Irish Heritage Association has established a Foundation to fund scholarships and provide research grants. The Foundation has sole responsibility for granting these, with advice from the Grants Assessment Board.

Staff of other institutions in Australia are invited to take up membership and to participate in the activities of the centre. Academic membership ( Staff members and postgraduate students of Australian institutions) is $25. Associate membership (Any interested person) is $15. (All members of The Australian-Irish Heritage Association are entitled to free associate membership.)
